Freshman Perspective

Friends
The friends you meet in college will be lasting ones, but you have to go through some non-compatible ones to get to the compatible ones. You will meet people within the first week that you think will be your friends for life… then reality sets in.
Even though we are in college many freshmen we are still maturing and learning. You do not immediately mature when you come to college it takes time, it takes different life lessons, it takes some reality checks, some broken hearts, and some close encounters for an individual to grow and mature. College is a place where you find yourself. Therefore, that same person that you meet the first week may not be the same person in four years because you will not be the same person in four years.
When you find a group of friends that you can grow, develop, and transition with, that’s when you’ve found your group of friends. It is harder for some and easier for others to find that perfect group of friends, those people that will always be there for you and will help you though the struggle of college because we all have found out, the struggle is real. Some tips from wikihow.com are:
1. Join groups and clubs
When you find people who share your common interest it’s easier to make friends
2. Participate in sports and other common activities
You all will share a common goal
            3. Go to events
This will get your face out there making people more receptive towards you
            4. Talk to people
You have to get out and talk to people; you can’t make friends by just sitting in the dark
            5. Don’t do your in your dorm
Go to the study halls, lounges, and library
            6. Go to parties
Get out there, have some fun, get out of your comfort zone
            7. Don’t give up
At first you may not be making the best of friends, but it will happen in due time
            8.  Get a job
                        Interact with your coworkers
            9. Sign up for electives
This is a fun and relaxed way to meet people
            10. Go downtown
See what all the community has to offer, you will find cool hangout spots to go to with friends
            11. Get connected
                        Add people on instagram
            12. Hang with your hometown friends
These are the people who know you best on campus, so they can relate to you on many aspects
            13.  Be approachable and compassionate
The best way to meet people is with a smile
            14. Volunteer
Get involved and give back to others, this will help you meet people with your common interest

Don’t be afraid to make mistakes because those are lessons in disguise,
